1. Poorly coded.

i7 920 @ 4.x ghz

5870 crossfire

12 GB RAM

I'm running at 1920x1200, everything high, and lag spiking. Frame rates aren't consistent. Sure, it's "beta". However, it's 3 weeks to launch and this is a stress test...not a client optimize test.

2. Gameplay:

This is probably the worst part about the game....I don't know why, I loved the original FFXI but stopped playing it when all my friends moved to WoW. I also, am not in high school anymore, I don't have 10+ hours free everyday to fail school. I actually need to see the sun light so I hope this game doesn't promot obesity.

Personal opinions aside, for some odd reason...I found myself falling asleep, literally. I had to turn off the game 30 minutes in because I was falling asleep =/

I don't like where this is going.........the last game I played that nearly put me to sleep was Everquest II. And that game got KILLED by WoW.

EDIT: For anyone that says "It's your computer". No, trust me, it's not. Especially since I'm running every other game on highest settings perfectly fine, add in the fact that I know more about software than you because I major in software development and know much more than the average 'wannabe".

And to add one more thing regarding the gameplay. Who programmed the mouse? Seriously who the hell programmed the mouse?

EDITEDIT: Where the hell are the official forums?!

no idea why you running @ 1900x1200.

The weird combination. You should run it @ 1920x1080 which is the HD recommand.

none

I'm going to pick on you a little... You know alot more about software than the rest of us, yet in my experience most gaming issues with PC's are with hardware, not software.

Gonna have to agree with you here. You have much better PC compared to my setup but still I would think Core 2 Duo @ 3.5 with 4 gigs DD2 and Black Edition GTX 260 would run it fine on reg settings, not so much. Killing rats, executing 15 emotes for a quest etc, very random stuff...

1. EQ2 put you to sleep? That game has so much to do in it..... You may not like the MMORPG genre anymore is what I htink. Try other games such as League of legends and others that offer fast paced combat and short sessions with quick reward.

2. FFXIV from what I read will have a cap limit on how much you can level a class per week or something, so they want you to go outside and will not allow you to grind all day. I am not 100% clear on how it all works, but I don't think you will be forced to play hardcore hours to have fun or get far.

3. I played the Alpha on my PC and it is a GTX 260, 4GB RAM, Intel core 2 Quad 9450 processor. The game didn't have lag for me, I run at 1680 x 1050. Maybe crossfire is causing problems, I am not sure. I know a lot of games are not coded properly for more than 1 graphics card be it Nvidia or ATI.

Okay, I think a lot of people misunderstand what my idea of lag is:

Cyrsis for me runs at 50-80FPS. This for me, is not laggy. Anything below 30 and spiking to 60 is considered lag and lag spiking.

This means the team responsible for coding the engine....well, failed lol

There are many other games like this, forgot which ones they were...(cause well, they all died).

I dunno mate. It feels like FFXI....just shinier. And it seems a little bit too late. It's like rereleasing FFXI with new graphics but none of the accessibility that new MMO players want. I mean, lets be honest, if SE wants to make money, they need to cater to casuals, and so far....this game doesn't seem like it's doing that from what i'm reading.

Girlfriends come and go but Epic battles are Soulbound

With that kind of set up I just got to say WoW, you of all people should be smoking this game.  Do you think it could be a conflect with something on your computer (hardware or software wise?)

Still even if that was corrected,  nothing will fix the bordom you experance in the game sadly :/

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Crysis ran very, very poorly when it frst came out on all machines. You are playing it now, so it did not die, so you are wrong.

I am guessing FFXIV will have tons of video options when the official game is released, as you see in beta there are not many to mess with.

If you think the game failed, you don't like it or whatever, just uninstall the beta and don't buy it. No point wasting your time on something you are not enjoying and think is not fun, bores you and that your computer cannot run up well.

I think you need to check Crysis' sales with respect to Modern Warfare lol

The only reason why any of my friends had Crysis was to use it as a benchmark. And yes, I'm aware of it's garbage coding when it first came out and it's still not that great now.

Don't get me wrong, I really want to like this game...but I seriously think SE screwed up...badly.

ffxiv does not support crossfire or sli, disable it and try you will notice a boost in performance. Vanguard was the same way, people actually had consistent memory leak until the game crashed if they used sli or crossfire.

Yes I played FFXI for a year from when it launched.

FFXI is a very old game and was out on the PS2 years before it was PORTED to PC! That is why it had few PC options.

FFXIV is being made on PC first and will be ported to the PS3 way later. It will have many more PC options because of this.

So, that is the difference.

Again, uninstall the beta and forget about the game. You shoudl not need people to convince you to like a game.

You are bored, trying hard to like a game... that right there should tell you that this game is not for you.

If you are a final fantasy fan, then maybe you would still like it once you play the final product, if you are not a big fan of the FF games, I would say yes uninstall it now and move on to a new MMORPG or maybe a new genre to try out something new.

If SE screwed up, oh well, I am sure a couple millions of FF fans will stil play in Japan, USA and Europe. They will live, don't worry about them.

This runs great on my computer with max settings. The game play is awesome if you use a xbox controller, and they are still working on the controls. This game will be ready, if you played during closed beta you would know that they have added a ton of stuff in the past few weeks. They still have some time to work out the kinks and if they were truly worried about the silly bugs and things that people keep pointing out they wouldn't of quit allowing bug reports in beta 3. This game is going to rock come launch and they are purposely keeping things from us. I am counting down the days till this come out.
