Yes, the reviews have been pretty abyssmal. But at the end of the day, who cares? Some of us enjoy the game, and we're not going to magically stop because you don't like the game.

Back on the subject, a score of 50+ out of 100 is a fail in everyone's definition but yours, it seems.

Personally, if I don't know about a game, and read multiple articles that rates it as less than 65+/100, I consider it a fail.

Maybe you have a more leniant and forgiving rating sistem, and that would be a good reason for why you like the game.

Let's just say FF XIV won't win any prize for "Best of 2010" :)

Despite all the negative reviews, this will probably be a moderate financial success for SE. It will just further their arrogance and let them know that no matter how terrible of a game they release, their loyal fanbase will line up to buy it. Then again, that's been happening since FFX in my eyes.

There is absolutely no excuse for a company as large and as wealthy as SE to push a game out the door in this condition. It's really not up for debate that the game has launched in a terrible state. People may be having fun, but they are having fun playing a game that is terrible by modern industry standards.

I would compare to play Final Fantasy XIV of eating sea urchins without being a catfish, or staple their balls to the thigh without being Steve-O. It simply hurts like hell.

This is not about stopping people, who enjoy FFXIV, playing the game. These replies keep coming back but they make no sense what so ever.

It is about showing people who are on the fence, to get a feel of how to majority of the playerbase (who played) feel about the game, and thus giving them the opportunity to make an informed decision before spending any money.

Of course one can only make a final detailed opinion after playing it, but these reviews sure raise a red flag. So if you do buy and it sucks, don't come crying afterwards, because you were sufficiently warned. 

I hope I was able to shed some light as to why reviews are made.

The guys at Invisible Walls rip into FF14. Skip to 12:10 if you don't want to watch the whole ep and have a good laugh. 

Hm aside that we all agree on changes I wodner about something in the case of review from FF 14,  better said that once a certain review trend appears the other one that make reviews sort of follow this trend. Like we first had around 65 and 50 reviews in the case of Final Fanatsy 14 and after the first one with a really low score appeared several other reviews after this followed that trend. Like Gothic 3 that got at quite some places  positive reviews aside of critical gamebreaking bugs.

Oh anyway a review from demonews , sadly only in german. Actually it covers the main problems about the UI and that it is unfriendly to beginenrs.

So now nobody can say that I am an only fanboy that ignores all negativ things. :P

So FFXIV got more rewards from gametrailer and gamespot for being the most disappointing game for 2010. No surprise here.
