It is the crafting. It feels like such a grind and a half not to mention repairing weapons every 2 minutes so to speak. Not sure wether to sub or not. Any thoughts ? Grim Dawn, the next great action rpg! http://www.grimdawn.com/ |

I came back to FFXIV in Patch 1.18 after leaving it when launch utterly dissapointed. I had an open mind and played it through to about the end of when 1.19 came out. At that point I made the decision that, yes the game was drastically better than launch, and it did have its pros, however at its current stage, I just couldn't keep playing it. I am currently waiting until Square Enix releases Version 2.0 of FFXIV, in which I will give it another shot (hoping for the best!) and go from there. If it still lacks what it needs at that point, I will put away FFXIV forever, but I have faith that they can still pull through in making this game a worthy Final Fantasy title. There are three kinds of people in this world. The one's who can count, and the ones who can't. |

Originally posted by Mephster ? The crafting is completely optional, there are repair npcs at every camp, and there shouldn't be any reason to repair that often unless you keep dying. I'm ok with the crafting, but I haven't personally used it to repair anything since the repair npcs were put in. |

No, but you can search through all the retainers and purchase from the menu outside the marketwards now. Only problem is that the gear doesn't display the quality and stats yet{unless they fixed that and I missed it} So essentially you still have to go into the market wards, run around to each marked retainer and look at the item to see if its what you want.
If SE did update this, than my bad that I missed it, but I do try to read all the updates, cause I am very interestered in returning to Eorzea for 2.0 or sooner, so I like to keep tabs on its progress. |

Even worse is that there is already a place in Limsa Lominsa for an Auction House that even has the AH symbol over the walkway to the door! They could easily add a place for an AH in Gridania and Uldah too.
I took this screen during closed beta, and last I played in Dec it was still there: Larger image here...

Here is how it works: Approach Market Wards:
Choose item search:
Browse for type of item:
Browse for subtype:
Choose item (view stats, level etc.):
View transaction history, 20 cheapest listings, and purchase item:
What they are still adding (I assume in 1.21 next month) is a search engine, and HQ listings (HQ's have been simplified since launch there is no longer +1/2/3 made, just NQ and HQ).

Originally posted by Zetsuei While I can't answer for SE's motivations, I can tell you that the Auction House vs. the Market Wards have been one of the hottest contested debates on the forums. There are people that like them or the idea of them, and there are people such as yourself that do not want them. Making it possible to purchase from the search menu was in direct result of these debates, I think. What other changes they will be making are yet to be announced. |
