Beyond Protocol was Dark Sky Entertainment's 3D sci-fi MMORTS set in space. As in most RTS games, players colonized and cultivated their own planets, expanding within the large star system as they sought to strike a balance between diplomacy, battle, socialization, and further expansion.

Players could elect to invest in research and boost technology, engage in diplomacy and handle relations among neighbors, or choose to conquer and annex other worlds. Players who invested in research could use the game's crafting tools to create almost anything, from customized projectiles, other weapons, to ship-based enhancements whose placement was also completely custom.

Beyond Protocol was p2p with a tiered access system. Two versions of the game were available: Standard ($19.95) and Premium ($49.95).
