Golemizer is a free to play, 2D browser-based MMO set in a steampunk universe. Players take on the role of scientists who gather resources and craft many things in the world, most notably golems: monsters stitched together from pieces of slain creatures or cobbled from metal and junk. These golems serve as your pets and can be given orders to complete. Whether you train your golems to gather resources or become weapons is up to you. Golems continue even when their owners are offline. This complements the game's advancement system, which foregoes classes and the grind, instead allowing skill points to accrue over time, even when the player is offline. These points can then be spent on leveling various abilities. The RPG gameplay is basic, but the crafting system is quite deep and at the heart of the game.
In addition to golems, the majority of items in the game are crafted, including player homes and cities. Players can also run their own shops. Even most of the quests and dungeons are player generated. As such, the community is vital to the game and there are thousands of players. Golemizer sees regular updates since release, and these have introduced new lands, minigames, and many new items to create, including guns and clothing options. In addition to the browser, the game is also playable via Facebook, and existing Golemizer players may even link their accounts. The game is supported by an item shop for optional upgrades.
